Birthday Cake - Mango & Strawberry Flower

I've just finished making the birthday cake for my niece's 2nd birthday.  The celebration will be tomorrow.  Technically, in around 12hrs time, but I always call it tomorrow if it's the early hours and I've not had my sleep yet.

I'll try and remember to take pictures of the yummy Vietnamese food my SIL & her auntie will prepare, but I often forget!

Here's the finished cake!

Don't even ask me where I'm going to put the candles!!!!

As you can see, I'm quite glad I didn't put the candles in yet as the cake only j-u-s-t managed to fit into the fridge!!!!

I took plenty of photos whilst cake making - including the errors I made and I'll do a post soon of how I made this cake.

Happy Virtual Feasting!

  1. I think your niece will be very happy with this cake. I haven't seen a girl who doesn't like flowers and with strawberries? Never!

  2. That's a really pretty cake! I like the mango roses. The strawberries are beautifully cut too. Will you be sharing the recipe? I can't wait. :)

  4. Wendy: I'll try remember to take pictures of her reaction when she sees her cake!

Esther: Thankyou! I'm just hoping the fruits don't turn brown! It was a bit of a big recipe - especially for the cake tin I used and that was my downfall. On the plus side, I managed to salvage it without having to make another from scratch! I plan to do a post of how I made the chiffon and filled the cake.

Ann: Thankyou! It's actually a Vanilla Chiffon (7 egg recipe) split and filled fwith cream and fruit. It had chocolate crumbs on the outside.

  9. Oooh it looks beautiful! Lucky birthday girl. You sound like a night owl (like me) when it comes to cake making. And I also have height issues, I get carried away making the cakes, then discover the lids don't fit on the box, oops! Btw - your cakes look so perfect, and all self-taught? Well done!
